Things to consider before Smart Lipo

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Laser liposuction is one of the most common procedures being undertaken by both men and women recently.

It is not as expensive and invasive as the traditional liposuction and does not have much downtime after. However like any surgical procedure, laser lipo can pose some risks if the right precautions and advice are not followed. Prior to having the surgery you must inform your surgeon/doctor of any medication/remedies you are taking.

Your cosmetic surgeon will advise you to stop taking some drugs and medicines starting two weeks to a week before the  liposuction surgery. If you’re medicines is one of the no-no list then your cosmetic surgeon will let you know about it. You must. It is safest for you to stop smoking two weeks prior to the laser liposuction surgery.

You are of course unable to do your house chores during the recovery period. Keep the house clean enough because you will feel sick and tired to do house cleaning after the surgery is done. Standby for the instant foods in your cabinets may help you much when you prepare for you meal during the recovery time. You may ask your friends to stay with you druring the recovery time.

Don’t have high expectation after the procedure. Expect to look terrible when you look at yourself in the mirror at the first time. The area involved during surgery will be sore, leaky from the saline and anesthetic mixture, bruised and swollen. But, as time goes by, soon after the recovery period, you will then see great different in your look. Most of people need at least two weeks to recover as usual and then a check up with the doctor to make sure that the wounds are healing correctly.

Laser lipo, new advanced less invasive procedure.

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

For those of you who know that regular work outs and visits to the gym are not working in the way of getting rid of that tiny bit of excess fat  deposits you have. All may not be lost. Laser Lipolysis is a fairly new, but yet advanced form of liposuction, but less invasive, less costly and less down time.  This is a type of cosmetic surgery in which the fat is removed from the body using a suction device. Liposuction is presently the most popular form of cosmetic surgery in the United States, over 600,000 Americans having it every year.

Liposuction, let us be clear, is not a means of losing weight. At the most, one can expect to lose around 10 pounds, but usually much less, during the procedure. The purpose of liposuction is primarily to shape the body into a more ideal figure by removing fat from places where it is unsightly. That is why liposuction is seen as a cosmetic procedure, not a medical one. In fact, liposuction cannot provide any improvement to your health, and does not lower your risk of getting heart disease or diabetes. That means liposuction can never be a replacement for regular exercise and healthy diet when it comes to keeping fit. All it really does is make you look better, without improving your body.

But like any type of surgery, liposuction carries certain risks. Some possible complications that may occur in the liposuction procedure include infection, allergic reactions, skin damage, skin necrosis, nerve compression, pulmonary embolism, and fluid imbalance. However, the risk of death is considered to be very low, although it is a possibility.

There are also some problems associated with liposuction that are not medically serious. Uneven or lumpy areas of skin are one such problem, and although they do not pose any threat to your health, they can still be of great concern to you. The best way to minimize the risk of complications is to have the procedure performed by a qualified plastic surgeon with much experience in liposuction.

Liposuction abroad?

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Tummy Tuck’ or abdominoplasty, Liposuction have all become really popular types of cosmetic surgery, not only in the UK, but all over the world. Hence many people travel abroad to have these procedures done, and somethimes at half the cost to say the UK or USA.

The benefits of doing this are huge

Not only do they get low cost liposuction costs, they get a free holiday of a lifetime and money left over.

Although costs may be low in other countires, there are also major risks invloved in having surgery abroad.

These include aftercare. It is important to make sure that the correct aftercare is given to each patient. Now if you have surgery and then return back to the UK, and something goes wrong, it maybe that only the NHS hospitals will help as other private clinics may refuse to do so.

Qualifications of the surgeon.

Are they fully qualified to be performing surgery on you?

So before you think about saving money, think about the consequences of having surgery abroad in an unknown place.

Chemical peels for you?

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Acne scars are one such area and there are both non-surgical and surgical treatment options.

There are various non-surgical treatments available for those that are suffering from acne scarring. These procedures usually include chemical peels. It aim is to remove damaged skin to allow fresh skin underneath to come through.

Many places offer chemical peels varying from superficial to medium to deep peels. Plastic surgeons are more expensive and are the only ones who can carry out the deep peels in hospital conditions. Superficial peels and medium peels can be carried out by beauticians and asthetic doctors.

Another issue is the strength of peel you need. For more scaring, a stronger peel may be needed. The more strength, the more potential for complications. A consultation with an experienced cosmetic surgeon is the way to figure out which way to go.

Other types of plastic surgery for acne scar may include skin grafting depending upon the severity of the scarring. While rare, grafting can be an ideal way to create a smooth skin appearance.

Many people believe that any type of chemical facial is nothing more than a spa procedure. However, this is a mistake. Be sure to look for a surgeon that knows how to apply the right amount of acid to your skin. Since you only have one face it is important to take care of it.

fat removal in a quick and easy way

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

A new liposuction procedure called Smart lipo or laser lipo has been introduced, where small amounts of fatty deposits are melted away by the laser and then sucked out.

Traditionally, liposuction used a tool called a “cannula” to suck out the fat. This is a large wand-like device. An incision is made in the patient, and the cannula goes to work, sucking out the fat like a vacuum cleaner. It sounds a bit messy, and it can be. Actually, this old technique has scared a lot of people away who would benefit greatly from liposuction.

The new lipo uses a laser, a highly focused beam of light. It’s just like any light in your house, but pointed into a tiny beam. Nowadays, this technology is used for just about everything-including getting rid of unwanted fat.

Before the doctor starts to remove the fat, it is zapped with a laser. The fat becomes softer and liquefies. Once the fat is in its liquid form, it is much easier for the doctor to remove. It also causes less trauma to the body.

In many cases, the fat does not have to be removed. When it is a small area of fat, it is simply left in the body to be naturally re-absorbed into other areas. This means that there is no sucking involved at all!

So is it a safe fat removal method?

Laser liposuction has just been approved by the FDA. It is a brand new procedure that is actually considered much safer than the old lipo, because it’s easier on the body. It is not an invasive procedure like the old lipo.

Because the laser causes the blood to coagulate, there is no bleeding, swelling or bruising. The body heals itself naturally so that you can get back to your daily routine as soon as possible. With this type of liposuction you can expect to be fully healed in just a few days.

The chances of complications are minimal, since there is usually no invasive work involved. In some patients, there could be bruising or swelling. You should talk to your doctor before the operation to discuss risks. Some patients who are in poor overall health may not be eligible for the procedure.

What You Can Expect From Laser Liposuction

Like regular liposuction, laser lipo works great for specific areas where adipose cells have accumulated on the body. This includes belly, chin, arms, butt, thighs, male breasts and more. These are areas where diet and exercise just won’t make the it disappear. Liposuction works by targeting the specific areas and removing the tissue. It is untrue rumour that it is a pain free procedure, as some areas can be more sensitive than others, and the procedure can take up to 5 hours.
